The goal of this class is for participants to gain or improve knowledge and skill proficiency in pediatric first aid and child and infant CPR AED. The course equips students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adult’s children and babies. In this course you’ll learn both first aid and CPR. In the classroom you’ll watch a video. The video will show you how to give first aid and CPR and help you practice skills. An instructor will coach and test you. Child injury is preventable. Safe practices, equipment, and proper supervision by parents, guardians, and childcare providers can prevent many child injuries from occurring. However, once an injury or sudden illness has occurred, effective pediatric first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillation (AED) can save lives, prevent permanent disability, and improve recovery.
This training will meet the annual DHS Fire Safety Training requirement by covering fire safety and prevention. Participants will learn how fires occur, how to prevent fires, review emergency fire evacuation plans, how to conduct monthly fire drills, and plan escape routes for children and staff in a childcare setting.
Students will learn policies and procedures related to Emergency Disaster Planning for Childcare Centers according to Pa Emergency Management Agency, (PEMA), and OSHA. They will learn what to do in different kinds of emergency situations and look and review their facility’s disaster plan. After reviewing the emergency plan of the facility be able to respond appropriately to an emergency. The plan will include how to prepare and react to an environmental disaster that may affect their center and procedures for a lock down or intruder entry. A review of pertinent supplies needed for a shelter will also be included to prepare for evacuation situations.
This interactive training is an in-person lecture presentation. The STOP THE BLEED® interactive training guides individuals through the three methods of bleeding control using video demonstrations, interactive learning, and spontaneous quizzes.
The focus of this training is the immediate response to bleeding. At the end of this training, you should know how to recognize life-threatening bleeding. You should also be able to take the appropriate steps to control bleeding until help arrives. If you do not feel comfortable with controlling bleeding, you can still help by calling 911 and assisting others who are controlling bleeding.
This interactive preparedness training is meant for childcare facilities and schools. Consideration for sites’ specific needs for safety, security, policy, and procedure related to preventing and reacting to active emergency events. Any emergency response policy should be customized to the location, then reviewed and updated annually at a minimum.
